Catch Licorice White - August 22, 2022

Licorice isn't my favorite treat, but this particular snus has always seemed right to me. There are many different licorice products out there, but today we're going to be talking about Catch Licorice White. Swedish Match also makes this in a mini dry portion, as well as a mini original portion. Swedish Match describes this as having a "light tobacco character with clear hints of licorice and salmiak, as well as slightly dried herbs".

Catch Licorice White comes in a white can with a black label. The Catch logo is slightly off-center with the portion format on top, and size underneath. As with most Swedish Match cans, this is a very well done can. The black on white just pops and makes the can look sleek. Each can comes with 24 portions, weighing .9g each, totaling 21.6g. The nicotine content is 8mg/g which is 7.2mg/portion.

When you first open the can, you'll find that classic Swedish Match star formation. You'll then notice a black licorice aroma hit you. It's not strong or overbearing, but just right. Behind that is a mellow tobacco character. The taste is incredible. A black licorice up front, with just a hint of tobacco in the background. This one definitely tastes like it smells. I haven't found any dried herbs in this one, but each person will experience slightly different tastes and smells! These portions will need fluffed up to fit comfortably in the lip, but once they're in, they feel great.

Overall, this is a really well done snus. The licorice blends well with the tobacco and isn't in your face at all. There are a ton of other licorice products out there, but this one is really good. Because there are a ton of other flavors like this out there, if this one isn't for you, don't stress! There are plenty of other options for you to try out!

Catch Eucalyptus White Dry Mini - August 21, 2022

First, let me start by saying that I usually do not use mini portions. They're just not my cup of tea. But I can see the appeal to people, and if this helps someone transition from smoking to a safer alternative, than I'm all for it. I've been using snus for 9 years and this snus has been around for as long as I can remember. Eucalyptus just isn't a super popular flavor in the snus world. Catch makes this snus in both, mini and regular size portions. I think Offroad still makes an eucalyptus snus however, so there's not much in the way of variety of eucalyptus products on the market. Swedish Match describes this as having a "mellow tobacco taste and distinct notes of eucalyptus and mint".

Catch Eucalyptus White Dry Mini (that's a mouthful) comes in a white can with a baby blue label. The Catch logo is off-center with the portion format on top, and size underneath. Being a mini portion means mini can as well! This is a much smaller can than most other cans and fits easily in your pocket. So easily, you can forget it's even there sometimes! Each can comes with 20 portions, weighing .34g each, totaling 6.8g. The nicotine content is 15mg/g which is 5.1mg/portion. These portions are dry mini portions so that's why they're slightly lighter than most others.

When you first open the can, you'll find a cooling menthol, followed by a slight citrusy pine. It's a refreshing aroma. Not too strong, or overbearing, yet not faint either. The taste is very similar to the aroma. You get that cooling presence from the menthol and that refreshing eucalyptus flavor up front. A hint of tobacco in the background ties it all together really nicely. The nicotine content is on the lower end, being a mini portion. So if you're used to regular size portions, this is one you might want to double up on portions.

Overall, this isn't a bad snus. It's not one I can use all the time, mostly because I'm just not a fan of mini portions, but they do make it in a full size regular portion. I tend to keep the full size in stock just in case I'm sick. There's something refreshing about it that makes me feel a little better whenever I have a cold or the allergies are getting bad. Knox Red White - June 28, 2022

Knox has been produced since 2006 by Skruf, and they've usually produced bergamot flavored snus, but about a year ago, they released a limited edition snus; Knox Red White. While it's not uncommon to have a limited edition release, it is uncommon to have a limited edition release from Knox. I've been using Swedish Snus since 2013, and I cannot remember a limited edition release from Knox. Knox describes Knox Red White as having a "classic tobacco taste topped with red berries".

Knox Red White comes in a silver can with a red label. Knox is front and center in silver, with Red White below, denoting the flavor and style of snus. This can is very eye popping and I do enjoy the red on silver look of this can. Knox Red White comes with 22 portions, weighing .87g each, totaling 19.2g. The nicotine content is 8mg/g which is 6.96mg/portion.

When you first open the can, you'll find a pleasant berry aroma. I've found strawberry, raspberry, and a hint of blackberry. The flavor is very similar to the aroma. Strawberries and raspberries up front mixing well together, with a hint of blackberries in the background. It's sweet, but not an artificial sweet. It reminds me a lot of eating fresh berries in the summer with my grandmother. The nicotine content feels to be at the regular strength and I've found the flavor to last around an hour!

Overall, this is a very good product. It's not often that there are limited editions that we can get here in the USA, but when they do come, they're always very well done. This is one I can see myself using occasionally in the summer when I want a treat, but not full time. With summer here, I thought it would be a great time to review a product that, in my opinion, has a perfect flavor for summer. Lundgrens Österlen. For a while now, Lundgrens has named their products after a region in Sweden, and their corresponding flavors in that region. It definitely makes their products unique as each product almost becomes a mini geography lesson! The Österlen region is in the southeast province of Skåne. The apple orchards from this region make their presence known in this product. Fiedler & Lundgrens describes this product as having a "clear sweet and sour taste of red and green apples".

Lundgrens Österlen comes in a black can, with Lundgrens front and center with a reddish-orange box around it. Under that is Österlen Slim, denoting the slim format. The design of the can is very modern. Another awesome feature of the Lundgrens line, is their Flex Lock lid. The catch lid part of the can is rubbery and expandable. The more snus you use from inside the can, the farther the catch lid expands, enabling you to store more used portions if you're not near a trash can! Each can comes with 22 portions, weighing .7g each, totaling 15.4g. The nicotine content is 10mg/g which is 7mg/portion.

When you first open the can, you'll find a pleasant floral aroma. There is a faint apple aroma in the background, along with a hint of tobacco. The flavor in this one is slightly different than the aroma. I pick up on the apple more in the flavor, than I do in the aroma. It's not too overbearing, but not as faint as it is in the aroma. The floral notes mix well with the apple. It's not very sweet, but more of a natural apple. Almost like it was just picked from the tree. The portions are super plump and very soft, making for a great fit in the lip. Being a white portion, these also last for about an hour! The nicotine content feels to be right at the regular strength as well.

Overall, this is a good product. It's not my favorite from the Lundgrens line, but it's certainly not the worst. Catch Spearmint White Mini - May 29, 2022

Catch has been around for a while. It's modern packaging however, gives it the appearance of a "newer" brand. But since 1984, Catch has been giving people a different take on snus. During it's inception, most products had a powerful tobacco taste. Since then, we've evolved into having just about any flavor you can imagine in a snus, while still having tobacco flavors in the heart and soul of the snus. Catch in my experience, is slightly different. Their products are made with tobacco, yet there is no tobacco taste! Swedish Match describes this particular snus as having a "mellow tobacco taste with distinct notes of spearmint and peppermint".

Catch Spearmint comes in a white can with a lime green label. Catch Spearmint is right in the center so you know what you're buying up front. White is on top, with Mini below. It's certainly a different take on the design for a mint product. Most mint products have a blue label, while wintergreen is traditionally green. Being a mini product, means mini can. I sometimes find myself forgetting I have it in my pocket, if I'm carrying it during the day. Catch Spearmint comes with 20 portions, weighing .5g each, totaling 10g. The nicotine content is 8mg/g which is 4mg/portion.

When you first open the can, you'll find that this product comes in the classic Swedish Match star formation. Being mini portions however, you may find they shift around a bit. The aroma is a very present, but not too overbearing, spearmint. The taste is identical to the aroma. Spearmint. It's a little sweet, but not overly sweet. Some people have said they still find the tobacco and peppermint flavor, but I have not found it at all. Remember, each person may find different notes in the same snus! The portions are, of course, mini portions. They fit well in the lip, and you may forget you even have one in! The flavor lasts about an hour, and the nicotine content is well below the regular strength.

Overall, this isn't a bad snus. I use it after I brush my teeth and sometimes when I go to bed. It's small and causes minimal drip, but with that pleasant minty freshness, it's definitely a good fit for after brushing. The low nicotine content isn't something I can complain about, being as I don't really use it throughout the day or after a meal. For some, it might be just enough though! Göteborgs Rapé XRANGE Sparkling White - March 4, 2022

XRANGE has been around since 2015. If you're not familiar with the XRANGE line, it's marketed as a long lasting, slim white, minimal drip product. The XRANGE lineup is also slightly cheaper than their namesake brands, which makes it more appealing to an avid snus fan on a budget. Göteborgs Rapé XRANGE Sparkling launched in 2019 to celebrate the 100th year of Göteborgs Rapé! The taste of champagne in a snus is something I've never seen before, and nothing says 100 years old like a champagne snus! Swedish Match describes this as having a "taste of Göteborgs Rapé with a touch of champagne".

Göteborgs Rapé XRANGE Sparkling comes in a translucent can with a blue label. XR is front and center on the can, with circles resembling champagne bubbles coming up from the bottom left. The can design is very reminiscent of a Göteborgs Rapé can. These cans are also slimmer, so I find that they sit better in my pocket while wearing jeans. Göteborgs Rapé XRANGE Sparkling comes with 21 portions, weighing .8g each, totaling 16.8g. The nicotine content is 8.5mg/g which is 6.8mg/portion.

When you first open the can, you'll find a pleasant floral aroma, with citrus and apple in the background. The flavor is slightly different than the aroma however. The citrus and apple are more pronounced in the flavor, with the floral notes coming behind them. The portions incredibly soft to the touch, and feel great in the lip. The nicotine content feels to be at the regular strength and I've found the flavor to last over an hour. You really do get the most bang for your buck with this one!

Overall, this is a good product. Not something I use every day, but one I enjoy on occasion. Traditional snus. Tobacco flavored in all of it's glory. Kronan. Swedish for "the crown" (I learned this the other day when I was getting my notes ready for this review!), this snus really stands out to me as one of the "Big 5" for Swedish Match; the others being General, Ettan, Göteborgs Rapé and Grov. Swedish Match describes this snus as having a "dark tobacco taste with notes of violets and citrus, along with hints of green herbs".

Kronan Vit comes in a silver can with a green label. Kronan is front and center, with the crown right above. For the white portion, "Vit" is written in a silver bar just below. Each can comes with 24 portions, weighing .8g each, totaling 19.2g. The nicotine content is 8mg.g which is 6.4mg/portion.

When you first open the can, you'll find a pleasant tobacco aroma. There is a slight floral aroma behind it, but is hard to find at first. The taste is very similar to the aroma. A dark tobacco is up front, with a light floral presence behind it. There is a hint of citrus, but it's not very strong or firmly present. I'm not sure what they mean by "green herbs", but I have not found any in either the aroma or taste. The nicotine strength is right at that regular strength, so it's satisfying while also long lasting due to the white portion format.

This is a classic snus. Tobacco, with floral notes in the background. Very straightforward and no nonsense. This is also a "budget" snus in my opinion.
