General Onyx has been produced by Swedish Match for quite a while now, and about a year ago, Swedish Match decided it was time to expand the line with another product within that line! The original Onyx has been rebranded as General Onyx Silver, and has for a long time been one of my personal favorites. The Onyx line has always, to me, been more of a "Black Tie" snus. This product is no different. Swedish Match describes the snus as having "Maximum taste and low drip. A dark and smoky tobacco character with hints of tar, dried fruit and licorice".General Onyx Guld comes in a black can with a black label. The General logo and ONYX are in gold right in the middle of the can, truly making this a "Black Tie" snus. Each can comes with 24 portions, weighing .9g each, totaling 21.6g. The nicotine content is 12mg/g which is 10.8mg/portion.
When you first open the can, you'll find the portions are black, yet this is a white portion snus. The portions are a white portion in a black portion material. You'll find the portions are in the classic star formation, so I recommend fluffing the portions so they fit better in the lip. Along with an outstanding visual presentation, you'll find an aroma of a smoky tobacco character, with notes of tar and wood in the background. The flavor is almost identical to the aroma, with the wood and tar coming in the background. I have not yet to find the licorice in this snus, but everybody's pallet is different!This snus is definitely not an every day snus for me, but I do tend to find myself ordering a can or two on my orders.
